Prof Gregory performed the world’s first surgery using the medical application for the Occulus Rift virtual reality headset. Currently, he is running research projects focused on the use of related technologies, including:
Virtual reality (VR) to create a surgical simulator for training physicians
Augmented reality (AR) to improve the accuracy and security of minimally invasive surgery Connected devices (CD) to gain a thorough understanding of a patient’s individual daily activity in order to develop patient-specific treatments.
Associate Professor Michael Soloman
Professor Michael Solomons is an Orthopaedic Surgeon with a practice dedicated to the subspecialty of Hand, Wrist and Peripheral nerve surgery. He is one of the very few Private Hand Surgeons in the country with a strong link to Academic Medicine and was therefore recently promoted to Associate Professorship at the University of Cape Town. He has been the Head of the Martin Singer Hand Unit at Groote Schuur Hospital for 18 years, He has lectured countless students, taught and supervised more than 50 registrars in training and has had Fellows from all corners of the Globe come and spend time with him. The baton of information and the ethos of Hand Surgery as passed by Mr Martin Singer, one of the Giants of Hand Surgery and awarded an International Pioneer in Hand Surgery in 1994, has now found its way into his hands and he feels it is his responsibility to ensure that this ideology and High Standard is disseminated nationally and internationally to ensure the care of the Hand Injured in the South African Society.
Dr Steve Carter
Dr Steve Carter is an orthopaedic hand surgeon with 20 years' experience in the surgical treatment of hand conditions. He obtained his MBChB in 1990 and FCS (SA) Orthopaedic Fellowship in 1999. He is also a Gold Medal Fellowship Candidate (Top Orthopaedic Candidate in South Africa).
Beyond his attendance at The Cape Hand Clinic, Dr Carter is a senior lecturer in the Department of Orthopaedic Surgery at the University of Cape Town where he is involved in postgraduate teaching at Red Cross Children's Hospital.
Dr Carter is also affiliated with the Sport Science Institute, performing day case surgery at the Life Sports Science Orthopaedic Surgical Day Hospital and is a lecturer of their master's students.
Dr Mike Barrow
Dr Michael Stuart Barrow is an Orthopaedic Surgeon who specialises in knee surgery. Dr Barrow practices from Sunninghill Hospital. set up the Sunninghill Knee surgery and has been doing knee surgery since then. He uses Robotic techniques, Computer Navigation, Patient specific instrumentation,arthroscopic and other modern techniques in performing state of the art surgery.
Dr, Barrow was the past Secretary of the South African Arthroplasty Association, a position he held from 2005 to 2013. He is the current president of the South African Knee Society. He is also a member of the European Sports and Knee Society and of the International Society of Knee and Sports Surgery.
Dr Barrow travels and lectures on knee surgery extensively both locally and internationally. He works as a consultant for Depuy, Smith and Nephew and Arthrex with whom he is involved in research and education. In 2014 Dr. Mike Barrow was elected on the international advisory board of the Early Users of the Attune Knee System.

He is the director of iMedrecuit, a niche recruitment agency offering a bespoke service to the healthcare fraternity.He is also the originator and product owner of Astrocyte, a mobile, integrated practice management solution for medical professionals as well as the course co-ordinator and Author of Private Practice Management 101.
Mr Ben Sexson
Benjamin Sexson is the CEO of Monogram Orthopedics. Prior to joining Monogram, Mr. Sexson served as the Director of Business Development at Pro-Dex, an OEM manufacturer of Orthopedic Robotic End-Effectors. In his tenure at Pro-Dex, Mr. Sexson was responsible for the development, management, and launch of a proprietary product solution, helping to negate a distribution agreement with a major strategic partner.
Benjamin is an Analytical thinker with the ability to clearly communicate and systematically problem solve. Ben is able to quickly assimilate complex problems down to the most important levers. He is creative, sociable and highly motivated. He has excellent soft skills and an ability to quickly build connections with new acquaintances. He has a solid foundational understanding of finance and business and the ability to quickly learn new skills that might help him further his business goals as varied as they might be; from computer programming and financial modelling to search engine optimization.
